At Be Balanced Counseling we want to help you embrace your personal story and live your life in a way that is fulfilling and connected to your personal values. My name is Amy Burnside and I am the owner of Be Balanced Counseling and Clinical Supervisor to other therapists completing their residency training. 

I am certified in EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which I use to help clients deal with big and small traumas/stressors they have experienced in their past or are currently experiencing. I also use IFS (Internal Family System) and Mindfulness based cognitive-behavioral interventions (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)).   If you ever feel like one part of you thinks and acts one way and another part has a different response I can help you integrate these parts with IFS, a very powerful, gentle, and transformative approach.

I believe that through increased awareness and acceptance of who you are we can identify behavioral or emotional patterns that are keeping you stuck. I have a down to earth and compassionate style and will help you identify your innate strengths.  

I have been working professionally with teens and adults since 2010.  Before that I was home raising my two daughters and prior to that I was in logistics/production planning/marketing for a Fortune 500 company. I strive to help clients increase their emotional, psychological, and physical health as well as improve communication and relationship skills, decrease stress and emotional reactivity, and identify barriers.
I welcome clients of any race or gender. I also teach DBT Skills groups that are "Life Skills" that assist in managing emotions, improving communication, and general coping skills  (Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Distress Tolerance Skills).
